scheme has been established during the session 1986-87 base on the new education policy
1986 Government in India.
It is an autonomous organization, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Education,Government of India. The Navodaya Vidyalayas are established in each and every district of the country excluding Tamilnadu State. The Vidyalayas are unique educational institutions in India, imparting quality education to students mainly from rural background. The Malkangiri district established on 2nd Oct 1992 with seven blocks, with its headquarters at Malkangiri. The history of Malkangiri seems to be in no way less thrilling and adventurous than any other place of India. The land of dense inaccessible forest, small but beautiful rivers, undulating plateaus and splendorous rich tribal culture. Malkangiri has its history of human civilization enrooted as long as 2500 years back. Prior to the modern civilization, many mythological episodes took place in and around Malkangiri. The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is situated at Malkangiri, which is 1K.M. from District Head Quarters.
This Vidyalaya is established during the session 2003-04 and has been functioning from Nov-2004 in Junior Science Campus Malkangiri. Now the Vidyalaya is functioning its permanent campus from Class VI to XII. To make every JNV as an excellent pace setting school in the district with regards to sharing of resources and experience with neighboring schools for improving quality of education.
